Third year at university has eaten all my time! Whatever happened to reading for pleasure and making stuff for fun? Darnit...
I attended London Expo last month, last year I went to the October event as Catbus and managed to get around on the Saturday with minimal ques and a decent amount of wiggling space to get through the crowds. This year was INSANE. My costume of choice was another quadsuit: Nefertimon, from Digimon season 2. This meant I was 6'4", armour clad, with giant fluzzy wings and I still took up less space than Catbus! I spent three hours waiting in line, half an hour limping around the expo, an hour trying to get into the que before this with the aid of several utterly fantastic cosplayers who helped me out and cheered me up when my armour spontaneously popped rivets.
The masquerade was a lot of fun, made more awesome by the helpfullness and cheeriness (or was it mutual 'argh!'?) of the cosplayers and staff, and the invention of the Sado-Masochists catagory. Also known as 'why the fuck did we build these costumes and agree to wear them arghargharghargh!'. My wings promptly sheared their bolts before going on stage, and I was duct taped together by a combination of Excaliber (soul calibre) and the Arkham Asylum (sorry for the spelling) cosplay group. I even managed my nearly traditional trick of nearly falling off the stage!

After not-falling-off-the-stage-but-nearly-landing-on-my-arse and hanging around backstage until the end of the contest I suddenly hear "We need the digimon back on stage!"... I'm not sure how, given the amazing levels of the expert catagory, but I'm very happy and made up that Nefertimon was awarded Best Expert! I would love to catch up with Matt and Tab, and offer my most heartfelt thanks to FatKraken for helping me get on and off stage, and generally being awesome and fluffy.
Plans for next year:
-something I can walk in that is (mostly) bipedal, damnit!
-purchasing early entry tickets online to avoid the uber doom que of fail
-not wearing 8" heels!!
-take more photos
Cosplay plans for next year:
-WAAARK!

Fortunate you are to have a DeviantArt account.
Fortunate you are to have food, water and shelter.
Fortunate you are to have family and friends.
There are those who do not know such things and those who never will.
